Orbita & Tinned Fingers
Dogger, Fisher, Faero by Orbita
Received wisdom has it that our ancestors were chimpanzees who climbed down from the trees and stood up on two legs to hunt on the savannah. But, supposing that was not true? Supposing we leapt down from the trees and landed in the sea? Supposing our evolution holds more in common with dolphins and whales than it does with chimps and gorillas?
Come aboard the good ship Orbita and join our salty seafarers, Dogger, Fisher and Faero- three sailors trapped on a boat, aimlessly drifting, looking for land. Haunted by the superstitious murmurings of their ghostly crew, they float through a featureless ocean of pasts, presents and futures, surviving on ever decreasing rations of grog and ships’ biscuits.
Using a variety of performance modes, including animation, puppetry and sea shanties, Orbita take us on a voyage of discovery to uncharted seas full of adventure, romance and spindly killer fish.
Dogger, Fisher, Faero follows in the light of Orbita’s other performance works Delta Foxtrot and The Stars Below Us, in examining the human condition and our relationships to the physical worlds which create our pasts, presents and futures and is presented at Mayfest 2010 as a work-in-progrees. We welcome any feedback you may have on the show, in order to further develop it.
